(last updated 22 Jan 2023)

Hello there!

I’m Faith, a 25.5-year-old doctor who loves travelling, writing, music and all things film-related. I live in the sunny (more like hellishly hot) island of Singapore for now, but who knows which country I’ll be in in 10 years’ time (or heck, even next month)?

I’m currently working as a freelance General Practitioner in Singapore, and graduated from NUS Medicine/YLLSoM’21. I was from PLMGPS’06/RGPS’09, RGS’13 and RI’15, in case any old schoolmates stumble upon this blog. 🙂

To give you a bit of an idea of who I am, here’s 6 things about me:

  1. My dream is to explore as much of the world as possible, live life to the fullest, #SeekDiscomfort (Yes Theory anyone?) and maybe even find myself a new country to call home
  2. I love learning new things! I’ve taught myself Korean & a teeny bit of Swedish, how to play the guitar, and started learning how to code!
  3. I’m a massive MCU/Marvel nerd and love action, fantasy & sci-fi flicks
  4. I’m a massive music addict. I have 25 Spotify playlists and counting, with the longest one having close to 1000 songs
  5. If you’re a cat person or have a pet cat, we will get along just fine
  6. I’m an INFJ, if you’re into pigeonholing people by personality type

I first started this blog in 2016 as a passion project, as well as to chronicle my thoughts & experiences and see how my dreams evolve over the years. I’m a writer, but most of my writing was limited to lyrics and short poems. I never had a chance to write about myself – my experiences, my dreams and my travels; hence this blog was born.

I chose the name Chasing Faith and Love as a nod to one of the first songs I fell in love with, Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol. I also run a tumblr under the same name, but it’s fairly inactive these days.

I love travelling and go on holidays whenever I have a few days or weeks to spare, so I’ll also occasionally post about my travels, complete with day-by-day itineraries and iPhone photos, primarily so I’ll be able to remember every little detail of my travel when I look at this blog 10 years down the road, and to help anyone out there who might be planning a similar trip.

I’ve also taken to writing extensively about my life as a medical student, House Officer/Medical Officer, General Practitioner and freelance doctoring (including the not-so-glamourous parts) to raise awareness of the problems that doctors & other healthcare workers face on the ground, and to let anyone who’s interested get an insider’s look into this career path.

My areas of interest are mental health advocacy, mentoring, psychology, and lifestyle medicine. Even though I’ve since resigned from the public healthcare sector, I’m still trying to advocate for the mental wellbeing and welfare of my friends & fellow junior doctors, and I provide one-on-one consultations with med school juniors or prospective med students, to share my experiences and help them make more informed decisions.

Seeing how ChasingFaithAndLove’s readership has grown over the years is like watching your child grow up and spread their wings. :’) I’m genuinely grateful to each and every one of you who reads my blog (especially those who take the time to DM me on Insta; your messages brighten up my day), and I hope to continue to be able to share my dreams, travels and career journey with all of you over the years. Thank you for giving my words meaning.

Oh, and be sure to follow me on Instagram or Facebook to be updated whenever I post something new, or if you’d just like a peek into my daily life! 🙂

Here’s the ultimate Spotify playlist containing all the song recs from my monthly Life as a Doctor series, enjoy!
